AIA and NCQLP EDUCATION

Metalumen is proud to announce...

We are now an accredited provider for the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and National Council on Qualifications for the Lighting Professions (NCQLP) for continuing education. All our lighting focused seminars will demonstrate best practices in lighting application, strategies in energy conservation, and human centric drivers for wellbeing per application and maintenance factors to be considered space by space. Each seminar is 1 to 2 hour in length and qualifies for 0.2 to 2.0 CEU, LEU and LU credits.

Lighting Issues, Trends and Wellbeing in Healthcare Facilities (HCL)
Exploring the complex multi task spaces of Healthcare Facilities with respect to Lighting, how to navigate and conquer the lighting needs for staff, patient and visitor wellbeing and saftey. This seminars goal is to educate the participant on the ever changing environment and technologies of Human Centric Lighting to best suit on a space by space and user by user approach.

The modern day work place is a rapidly changing environment. We are a more open and mobile work force. This seminar will focus on Healthy Lighting Strategies in the work place, be it the reduction of energy consumption, lighting strategies to increase productivity and harmonization of attitude or maintenance and ease of the financial budgetary constraints.

Challenges and Solutions in Lighting for The Educational System
Educational facilities are vibrant and inspired environments. In this seminar we will focus on designing the facility space by space from art rooms to theatre auditorium to computer and science laboratories. We will examine all different stages of the academic years and the best practice lighting strategies to deploy.

LED Technologies & The Future of Lighting
LED manufacturing is a game changer as reliability, Lifetime and Engineering Validation Testing become of more importance than ever. Customers are more aware of energy benefits now that they see it in LED systems and thus increasing demand for energy efficient products. LED as a Source will grow to 10-11% of Lighting applications and could reach 20% in 2016. Theories like “Haitz Law” confirm such forecast – Every 10 years, LED cost depreciates 10X and light output improves 20X. Governments are interfering with Incentive / Rebate programs and also driving growth. Although LEDs are robust … All LED systems are not created equal! So ‘TRUST BUT VERIFY’ should be the approach. LED has overcome some, but faces other challenges: $/Lm, Lm/W, and LED color variation AC/HV. OLED is another emerging technology, but is it there yet? Other interesting LED creative upgrades may continue to push LED even further into mainstream applications.
